- Guide to Scotty Cameron Matador grip sizes and weights

Posted by Bold Apps on

SuperStroke grips were the way to go for many folk, when they looked for a thicker grip, but now Scotty has the Matador to fill those needs.

Since Scotty first introduced the Matador grip, there has been some confusion towards the actual size of these grips and here, we hope to help satisfy any questions and curiosities.

First up, is the comparison in length between the three grips...Small on the left, Medium in the middle and Large on the right. Be aware, when the Matador grips were first made available, Small was previously called Standard/Medium, the Medium was called Medium/Large and the Large was called Large/Oversized XL....more confusion! :-)

You will see there is a difference of around 3/4" between the Small and the Medium and Large grips. We will come back to the lengths later on in the post.

Next, we will compare the main size differences between the three grips...

The Small Matador above is measured at nearly 25mm, with nearly 33mm in the below picture...

Moving down to the other end of the grip, the size is approximately 20mm.

Making a point of showing the taper in the shape of grip and also the length, the following picture shows all of this...

Length is measured to roughly 10.25", with the taper on the back of the grip and straight kept to the sides and face of grip.

In keeping with the same comparisons, here is the details on the Medium Matador grip...

26mm, so marginally larger than the Small Matador...

34mm and once again, slightly larger than the Small Matador...

At 22mm, the Medium Matador is again larger than the Small, but not by much.

The taper is the same in regards to the Small, but length is 3/4" longer, at 11" total length.

Now looking at the Large Matador, you will see it is substantially larger than both the Small and Medium, at 33mm...

...by 42mm...

...with the open end at 28mm.

At 11", the Large is the same length as the Medium. Now we look at the weights of each grip...

Small Matador is weighing in at 77 grams...

...Medium is 86 grams and...

...Large is 68 grams. Bear in mind, the Small and Medium grips are made up on rubber, whereas the Large is made of foam, with a rubber overlay. This is the reason for the Large being so light.

When it comes to Custom Shop Matador grips, these are only available in Medium and Large sizes. Small sized Matador grips are only available for red, black, grey and white Matador's.

Medium Matadors come in:-

Red, grey, white, black, black/red, black/silver, yellow, pink, green, blue, psychedelic pink, psychedelic green, psychedelic blue, psychedelic orange and camo.

Large Matadors come in:-

Red, grey, white, black, black/red, black/silver, yellow, pink, green, blue and camo.

We hope this guide helps, but if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us here.
